Visit Alaska to discover the beauty and magic of winter on this Winter Wonders escorted tour!

This unique journey from Fairbanks includes Northern Lights viewing in Alaska’s Interior region and riding the Alaska Railroad south to Anchorage. Get up close to Alaska’s wildlife in the winter season including moose, bison, and more at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Learn about the Iditarod Sled Dog race from an Iditarod musher during a special kennel visit where you will be surrounded by fabulous four-legged athletes known as sled dogs.

Tour Itinerary

A group tour highlighting Alaska winter and the Northern Lights. Enjoy stunning winter scenery as you travel in a deluxe motorcoach from Fairbanks to Denali and on the Alaska Railroad to Anchorage. The professional guides and drivers are experts on Alaska; traveling with them is like traveling with a friend. This tour is a truly enjoyable way to experience all Alaska has to offer in winter.


Fairbanks Arrival

Upon arrival in Fairbanks, transfer to your hotel on your own or by hotel courtesy shuttle.  The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight Fairbanks.



Late this morning enjoy a city tour of Fairbanks including a visit to the Morris Thompson Cultural Center and a stop at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. This evening, join your guide and fellow guests as you board the motorcoach to go on a Northern Lights viewing tour (depending on weather and solar activity). Overnight Fairbanks. (B)


Fairbanks to Denali

In the morning board the motor coach to depart Fairbanks for the small community of Healy, the closest year round community to Denali National Park. Upon arrival in Denali, visit the Murie Science Learning Center at the park entrance which acts as the visitor center in the winter time. Short walking trails and the possibility to learn how to snowshoe! Tonight, you have another opportunity to view the Northern Lights (weather and solar activity depending). Overnight Healy. (B, BL)


Denali to Anchorage

Today board the Alaska Railroad for an incredibly scenic journey that travels by Denali State Park and Denali National Park on its way through the Mat-Su borough on the way to Anchorage. Keep an eye out for the opportunity to see Mount Denali. Overnight Anchorage. (B)


Anchorage - Turnagain Arm and Girdwood

Today travel by motorcoach along the spectacular Turnagain Arm and the resort town of Girdwood. Visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to see Alaskan wildlife up close! On your return into town, stop at the resort town of Girdwood for a mountain tram ride up Mt. Alyeska offering amazing views of the Cook Inlet. Overnight in Anchorage. (B, L)


Anchorage - Dog Kennel Visit

Today travel north to meet 4-time Iditarod Champion Martin Buser at his Happy Trails Kennel. Hear personal stories while viewing a glimpse of the grandeur Alaska has to offer along the Iditarod Trail. Before returning to downtown Anchorage a stop will be made to visit the Iditarod Headquarters. Overnight in Anchorage. (B)


Anchorage - City Tour

Enjoy a city tour through the historic downtown district, Lake Hood/Lake Spenard and visit Earthquake Park. This afternoon visit the Anchorage Museum's Smithsonian Arctic Studies Center and learn about Alaska history and culture. The evening includes a farewell dinner with your traveling companions. Overnight in Anchorage. (B, D)


Anchorage Departure

Your tour concludes this morning after breakfast. Transfer to airport on own for departure flight. (B)
