From Wrangell travel by jetboat to LeConte Bay where you will see North America’s southernmost tidewater glacier. The LeConte Glacier calves frequently filling the bay with beautiful blue icebergs. Cruising into the bay by jetboat allows for efficient navigation around the ice floes that tend to block the way to the 1-mile long glacier face. LeConte’s 12 mile fjord boasts a large population of harbor seals with pups as the protected waters serve as a breeding, birthing and rearing site for them. June is the best month to see seal pups on the icebergs. The Wrangell day tour includes a visit to the fishing town of Petersburg, known as “Alaska’s Little Norway”. The colorful community offers great opportunities for photography.
