This fly-in-only lodge is accessible just 15 minutes from Talkeetna with views of mountain Denali. A visit includes various hiking options to explore the area daily, kayaking, or canoeing on the lake. Enjoy home-cooked meals served in the main lodge. Guests stay in one of three cozy cabins and share two exceptionally clean outhouses, a centrally located shower house, and a sauna.

Tour Overview

Caribou Lodge is an Alaska wilderness lodge located on a remote lake above the timberline in the Talkeetna Mountains, just southeast of Denali National Park and east of Talkeetna. Nature and tranquility are their only neighbors. Caribou Lodge is one of a select few Alaska lodges with fantastic views of Denali and the Talkeetna Mountains, yet it is not located inside Denali National Park. Wildlife in the area includes caribou, moose, grizzly and black bears, Dall sheep, wolves, coyotes, fox, wolverine, and many species of birds.

The long summer days bring incredible early sunrises at Caribou Lodge, and the elegance of the midnight sun, as it slips behind Mt. Denali, is a sight to behold. Spending a few days in your private rustic but comfortable cabin at Caribou Lodge is an insightful and authentic way to experience living in the Alaska bush.

Please note that the cabins do not have a private bathroom. Guests share exceptionally clean outhouses, and a centrally located shower house.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Talkeetna to Caribou Lodge

Arrival in Talkeetna on own. Depart from Talkeetna on a 20 minute flight by bush plane to Caribou Lodge. The lodge owners will greet you upon arrival. After an orientation of the lodge, you will discuss and plan your daily activities. There’s time in the afternoon for some activities or to just relax at the lodge. Overnight at Caribou Lodge.

Day 2

Caribou Lodge

Activities include hiking and exploring the high alpine tundra from the lodge. You can view wildlife, flora and fauna for unlimited photography opportunities or take a leisurely boat ride around the lake and try your hand at catch-and-release fishing. In season, fields of wildflowers and mouthwatering berries can be found on one of the many hiking options, from the short hike for a 360 degree view of Denali or to one of the nearby lakes, streams, and beaver ponds for observing the wildlife. Day 3

Caribou Lodge to Talkeetna

After breakfast you will depart on the scenic flight back to Talkeetna. Tour ends upon arrival in Talkeetna.

To complete this reservation we will need for each person: Full name(s), body weight and dietary restrictions as well as arrival method/information in Talkeetna.

IMPORTANT: Maximum weight limit for bush flight to/from the lodge is 600 lbs total for plane including body weights and entire luggage; maximum 3 people can be taken.

Prices for parties of 3 people or more on request.

Special Cancellation Policy:
Up to 61 days prior: 50% cancellation fee
60 to 0 days prior: 100% cancellation fee/ non-refundable

Due to limited availability and a short operating season, stays at the Caribou Lodge are non-refundable even if your flight to the lodge is delayed or cancelled for weather related reasons, or for reasons beyond the lodge's control.
