Tour Overview

The Alaska National Parks tour is a guided Alaska group tour by bus and by the Alaska Railroad featuring two amazing iconic parks: Denali National Park and a cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park! Enjoy stunning wilderness scenery as you travel in a deluxe motor coach or van and on the exclusive dome train on the Alaska Railroad from Denali to Talkeetna. Your professional guides and drivers are experts in Alaska; after a while, traveling with them is almost like traveling with a friend! This land tour perfectly complements an Inside Passage cruise in Alaska.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Anchorage Arrival

Arrive in Anchorage and transfer from the airport to the hotel. A shuttle is available on a set schedule – please email us your flight arrival details if you would like to take advantage of that transfer. Otherwise, transfer from the Anchorage airport to the hotel on own. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Anchorage. Overnight Anchorage.

Day 2
Anchorage to Denali

Today board the motor coach or van* for a journey north to Denali. The route takes you along the picturesque Parks Highway making several stops along the way. Watch for black bears along the banks of the Susitna River and glimpses of Denali, the tallest mountain in North America.  A welcome dinner is included this evening.  Overnight in Denali. (B, D)

Day 3
Denali National Park

Today, depart on a narrated bus tour (simple park bus) into Denali National Park.  As you travel through the pristine wilderness, look for wildlife, such as bears, caribou, and moose, as well as views of the Mountain. The driver will provide commentary.  The tour is approximately 4-6 hours long and takes you approximately 30 – 43 miles into the park, depending on weather and road conditions. Overnight near Denali Park Entrance area. (B)

Day 4
Denali to Talkeetna

In the late morning board a deluxe dome rail car for travel from Denali National Park to Talkeetna, which began as a trading post when gold was first discovered in the Susitna River. Enjoy an afternoon of exploring this quaint town at your leisure by participating in an optional tour such as flightseeing, hiking, or a jet boat adventure (see Tour Add-ons). Overnight Talkeetna. Day 5
Talkeetna to Seward

Board the deluxe motorcoach/van for today’s grand adventure to Seward, gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. As you travel along the scenic Turnagain Arm, keep an eye out for Dall sheep high up in the rocky cliffs, as well as moose, bears and eagles on your journey. Overnight Seward. (B)

Day 6
Seward

Spend the morning exploring the coastal community of Seward. Later this morning board a glacier and wildlife cruise through the majestic Kenai Fjords National Park. Explore the face of a glacier and keep your eyes open for seals, sea lions, sea otters, whales, bears, eagles, and puffins throughout this half-day exploration cruise with lunch included on the boat. Overnight Seward. (B, L)

Day 7
Seward to Anchorage

Return by motorcoach/van to Anchorage where you will enjoy a brief city tour, which includes the historic downtown district. Visit the Anchorage Museum, a world-class museum which seeks to preserve, exhibit and interpret the art and history of Alaska. Tonight share stories of your Alaskan adventure with your traveling companions at a closing night dinner. Overnight Anchorage. (B, D)

Day 8
Anchorage Departure

Your adventure comes to an end with a transfer to the airport this morning. (B)
