Tour Itinerary

Fish for salmon, trout, and Dolly Varden from this perfectly situated lodge on the Kenai River. Your fishing options and destinations will be scheduled in advance of your visit.

Day 1
Anchorage to Kenai Riverside Lodge

In the afternoon (around 3:00pm) depart Anchorage for a scenic two hour drive to Cooper Landing, home of Kenai Riverside Lodge and the Kenai Riverside Fishing program. Upon arrival you will be greeted for an orientation and tour of the property with time to settle into your cabin before dinner. After being briefed by the seasoned fishing staff on what to expect over the next few days, enjoy a relaxing evening and prepare for tomorrow’s fishing adventure. Overnight at Kenai Riverside Lodge.

Day 2
Kenai Riverside Lodge

Fishing days, as selected in advance of your visit, are based from Kenai Riverside Lodge. Fish up to eight hours per day with other anglers (novice to accomplished) and the experienced and friendly guides on the upper and lower Kenai River. Fishing takes place by boat or on the riverbanks. Overnight at Kenai Riverside Lodge.

Day 3
Kenai Riverside Lodge

Enjoy another day of fishing. The lodge can also arrange for halibut charters, as well as coho salmon fishing in Resurrection Bay, depending on the season. Overnight at Kenai Riverside Lodge.

Day 4
Kenai Riverside Lodge to Anchorage

After breakfast, bid farewell to Kenai Riverside Lodge and return to Anchorage via shuttle arriving by noon.

Fishing primarily takes place from shore, in drift or power boats. Please note that rivers can be closed to fishing for certain time periods to protect the salmon. There may be times when you will be transferred to Seward to fish in Resurrection Bay (depending on the season). There also are limits for each type of fish being able to fish/keep depending on the type of fish. Some fish, like trout is catch and release only. Those regulations have been established to protect the different fish species and it may change from season to season. Often, each person is limited to 2 catches either per day or per season.

June 11 - September 30: Rainbow trout
July 15 - July 31: Second run of king salmon
July 15 - August 10: Second run of sockeye salmon
July 15 - August 31: Silver salmon on Resurrection Bay
August 1 - September 5: Silver salmon on the Lower Kenai.
August 5 - End of September: Prime trout fishing on the Upper Kenai River
July through September: Fishing for Dolly Varden

120 to 91 days prior to lodge stay date: 40% cancellation fee
90 to 46 days prior to lodge stay date: 60% cancellation fee
45 to 0 days prior to lodge stay date: 100% cancellation fee

 

 

 

Well we had a fabulous time in Alaska – back home now.  It certainly was the holiday of a lifetime and far exceeded our expectations.  Alaska is such a beautiful place – we did not realize the stunning scenery you have. Thanks for your help – all our travel plans worked perfectly.
