This Anchorage day tour puts you in the Alaska dog sledding driving seat. After a scenic drive north to Talkeetna and dog mushing country, you will arrive at Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey’s sled dog kennel and get an introduction into mushing your own team. Help harness the dogs before setting out on a 10 kilometer / 6-mile self drive mini expedition! Two guests will share a traditional sled and a small dog team of 4-7 Alaskan huskies. There will be a lead musher guiding and a tail musher following for safety and comfort. At about half point, stop for a photo opportunity with your dog team and alternate from standing to riding on the passenger bench. On the rest of the trail you will encounter a replica of an official Iditarod checkpoint and you will learn about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race until you cross the burled arch Finish Line into the kennel. Upon return to the kennel, reward the dogs with some treats and warm up with hot beverages. Additionally, enjoy a lunch at a local eatery in Talkeetna.
