Tour overview:
This Anchorage day tour puts you in the Alaska dog sledding driving seat. After a scenic drive north to Talkeetna and dog mushing country, you will arrive at an Iditarod champion sled dog kennel and get an introduction to mushing your team. Help harness the dogs before setting out on a 10-kilometer (6-mile) self-drive mini expedition! Two guests will share a traditional sled and a small dog team of 4-7 Alaskan huskies. Your group will have a lead musher guiding you in front and a tail musher following you for your safety and comfort. You’ll stop for a photo opportunity with your dog team at about the halfway point. Continuing your dog sledding adventure, you will explore a replica of an official Iditarod checkpoint and learn about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race before crossing the burled arch Iditarod Finish Line into the kennel. Upon return to the Seavey’s kennel, you’ll reward your sled dogs with some treats and warm up with hot beverages. Additionally, enjoy lunch at a local eatery in Talkeetna.

Required at Booking: Hotel information in Anchorage, date of birth, body weight, dietary restrictions, and mobility concerns. Please advise at time of booking if you would like to drive the sled.

Special Terms: A 2-person minimum is required for the tour to operate. This is a moderately active tour. If you would rather not drive the sled, please let us know at time of booking so that accommodations can be made prior to the tour. Children have to be at least 8 years to participate in this tour. Children 8 to 15 years of age will only ride on the passenger bench and will not drive the dog team/sled!
