One
of the most unique bear viewing
experiences ever! Imagine
being able to safely stay in close proximity to grizzly bears
and spending entire days viewing the magnificent animals. The
Katmai Coast offers Alaska's richest habitat for bears and attracts
naturalists and animal lovers each summer.

4 days / 3 nights Tour 113
Day
1: Transfer on own to the Anchorage International
Airport where you will depart for Kodiak Island. On
arrival, you will be transferred to the float plane
dock for a flight to Katmai Wilderness Lodge. The
next days are spent viewing and photographing the
largest grizzlies in the world! Overnight Katmai Wilderness
Lodge.
Days 2
+: Full day guided activities from the lodge
available each day. Choices include guided bear
viewing, photography, bird watching, guided hiking, guided sea
kayaking, beach combing, or a visit to view the archaeological
sites. A licensed captain will guide you to the best spots in Kukak and the surrounding bays, depending on the time of day and
tides. The touring vessel Wilderness was
specially designed for the Katmai Wilderness Lodge to get close to the remote beaches. A custom front
ramp makes it easy to get on and off whether you're
headed for a hike or back to the lodge. Due to
strong tidal fluctuations in the areas, the low tide
exposes mudflats that provide a unique opportunity
for clam digging and beach combing. Fishing for
halibut and rock bass is also possible. After dinner
relax in main lodge. Overnight
Katmai Wilderness Lodge.
Departure Day:
Around
mid-day, a float plane will bring you back to Kodiak
to meet a scheduled flight to Anchorage.
Round
trip flights from Anchorage to Kodiak and float plane flight from
Kodiak to Katmai Wilderness Lodge.
(Note: the lodge is located on the
Katmai Coast, not on Kodiak Island.) Accommodation
in guest cabins. All meals while at
the lodge and daily guided
activities (see above).

Cancellation Policy: Due to limited
availability and a short operating season, lost days
due to weather, or any other reason beyond the
lodge's control that delays or prevents clients
getting to the lodge on the day scheduled, are
non-refundable. Payments for the lodge
portion of the tour can be applied to a future trip;
however, this does not include airfare to Kodiak
Island if used.
Bear viewing is
consistent and reliable all season, though bear
sightings are NOT guaranteed.
