Tour overview:
On this Talkeetna day tour, ride the Alaska Railroad on one of America’s last “flag stop” trains on the Hurricane Turn Train—the train route threads from Talkeetna along the Susitna River and through the Indian River Canyon. The highlight of this railroad day trip is the stunning Hurricane Gulch Trestle. The creek lies 296 feet below the bridge, which spans 384 feet, the most expansive trestle on the Alaska Railroad route. The Hurricane Turn Train has delivered Alaska locals to their remote cabins since 1923. Alaskans and visitors can get off the Hurricane Turn Train anywhere along the route to hike or enjoy the scenery – you have to be back when the train returns. To stop the return train, give a hand wave or wave with a flag. Or you can stay on board and enjoy the fantastic remote scenery along the 110-mile train route.

Note: in rare instances, seeing the Hurricane Gulch area may not be possible due to conflicting schedules with other trains. The train can return late to Talkeetna depending on the number of flag stops requested.
