This Valdez day tour with a glacier and wildlife cruise through Prince William Sound features a visit to Columbia Glacier. On board, you can view Prince Williams Sound’s diverse wildlife, including sea lions, sea otters, and whales. Learn about mining, oil shipping, the 1964 earthquake, fishing history, and stories about the first people to explore and live in the area. This guided tour includes a narrative about the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Terminal as you sail past it to Columbia Glacier. Because the Columbia Glacier is the fastest-moving glacier in Alaska, releases tons of ice daily into the ocean. Typically, because of this, your ship will not be able to navigate to the face of the glacier. Instead, you will cruise through Columbia Bay around massive icebergs. The glacier and wildlife cruise travels 80 miles round-trip.
