In the morning, depart Anchorage and fly to Nome, located on the Bering Sea. Upon arrival in Nome you will be picked up and greeted by your local Alaskan tour guide. Start your Nome tour downtown before traveling to the Bering Land Bridge National Preserve to learn about the local terrain, the flora and fauna of this Far North environment. Watch for musk ox which often can be spotted here. Take a “walk” on the arctic’s tundra and touch the permafrost. Stop by a dog musher’s kennel and learn about this unique sport of the North and the Iditarod dog sledding race. Nome’s Gold Rush history is also on display and you will have a chance to try your luck at gold panning. Complete your day in Nome with time to independently explore downtown and enjoy dinner (not included) before flying back to Anchorage.
