Cultural Highlights of Alaska

Right about now, you just might be in need of an Alaska break! So much going on and as we head toward the holidays, you are probably yearning for a breath of fresh air and some new scenery. Luckily, we’ve got just the place for you!

This month we’re highlighting the many cultural landmarks you can visit on your Alaska vacation. Why not add a trip to Alaska’s capital city of Juneau to your list of hotspots? From glaciers to lakes to ice fields, Juneau has a rich depth of adventurous day trips and sightseeing opportunities for all who visit. But remember, you can’t drive here (and that just adds an extra dose of fun to all Juneau adventures)!

Another “must do” on any Alaska trip is a visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center outside of Anchorage. This carefully curated collection of Native Alaskan cultures and history, artistic exhibits and fascinating factoids marked its 25th anniversary in 2024 and has hosted over a million visitors since it’s opening in 1999. Be sure to add it to your itinerary.

If you plan to visit either Anchorage or Juneau, do check out our “Relax Alaska” 11-day action-packed vacation which transports you by both the Alaska Railroad and via motor coach to the many hotspots between Seward to the South and Fairbank to the North. With a marine life and glacier cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park and wildlife viewing in Denali, you can’t miss with this lineup of fun!

And for those of you active adventurers venturing to the Inside Passage and Juneau, a terrific day trip option is our Mendenhall Glacier Guided Hike. This 6-hour trip begins with a 3-mile hike through the Tongass National Forest to Mendenhall Lake and treats you to spectacular views of Mendenhall Glacier. Bring those hiking boots and some layers and come on down!

So close your eyes and imagine when you next open them, you’re arriving in ALASKA!
