Soon the days will be getting longer as we shush past the Winter Solstice on December 21st and Alaska’s midnight sun burns brighter across the state’s sparkling snow fields and fields of tundra. Winter is here and 2024 is close on it’s heels!

To round out our year at Alaska Tours, we’d like to share some educational-entertainment about one of our starring attractions – the Arctic Circle!

This month we spotlight “5 Reasons to Travel to the Arctic Circle” based on our insider knowledge about  this fascinating destination within Alaska. Did you know that Alaska’s Arctic is home to only 4,000 people but many, MANY more caribou and wildlife? And 90% of it is not covered by snow during the summer so you can enjoy blossoming wildflowers even in the Far North.

Another great draw in Alaska’s north – the Transatlantic Pipeline! Stretching 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay’s oil fields to Valdez, this engineering masterpiece is truly a milestone on many an Alaska visitor’s itinerary.

If you’ve always wanted to visit the Arctic yourself, you might enjoy our “Alaskan Odyssey” 9-night package tour that begins in Anchorage and takes you up to Denali and then on to Fairbanks by the Alaska Railroad. Then you’ll join a guided tour from Fairbanks up to the Arctic Circle and continue on to Deadhorse and Prudhoe Bay.

Another popular Far North tour is our “Arctic Circle Fly-Drive from Fairbanks”. This is a day tour but packs it in over 12-13 hours as you travel by small plane to the Arctic Circle Trading Post and return via van/minibus along the scenic and renown Dalton Highway.
