This Juneau day trip begins paddling across Mendenhall Lake in 6 or 12-person canoes. Take in the awe-inspiring Mendenhall Glacier ahead as well as the blue icebergs of all shapes and sizes. Upon reaching the beach near the glacier’s edge, trade in the paddles for backpacks and trekking poles. With the use of crampons, you will hike on moderate glacier terrain exploring accessible features such as crevasses, ice caves and moulins. After your glacier adventure, return to your canoe and paddle across Mendenhall Lake once more.
