Depart from the Lake Hood seaplane base in Anchorage, Alaska, for a scenic flight to the prime bear viewing habitat at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park & Preserve. Viewing Alaska from the air in a small plane allows for better sightseeing opportunities in this classic bear-viewing destination. Fly over glaciers, volcanoes, and the vast coastal region where the giant bears roam. Several hours of flying time (2-2.5 hours each way) allows you ample time to enjoy flightseeing over Alaska’s vast and rugged wilderness landscapes. As you fly over lower Cook Inlet, the tour route will take you along the Katmai National Park & Preserve shores to Brooks Falls.

You’ll then spend about 4-5 hours at Brooks Falls bear viewing (unguided) and exploring the park. This bear-watching day tour from Anchorage offers an excellent adventure for wildlife enthusiasts!

Good to know: While bear viewing is not guaranteed, July is typically the best time for bear viewing in this area.
