Tour overview:
This tour from Fairbanks begins with an up-close view of the Trans Alaska pipeline and informational displays about the pipeline. Continue with a ride on a replica of the Tanana Valley Railroad through some of the gold fields of the Interior. Once aboard the train, the conductor and commentators provide lively commentary about the history of gold mining in Alaska. The train ride takes you to your adventure at Gold Dredge 8, where you will see firsthand how the dredge worked the gold fields. Once the train arrives at the camp, receive a brief but informative narrated program about gold mining, and then try gold panning for yourself. You WILL find gold- it’s guaranteed! After you pan your gold, explore the dredge in detail and feel Alaska Gold Rush history come alive! This tour is exciting and entertaining for the whole family.
