Tour Overview
Enjoy an Alaska Northern Lights day tour with a small group into Alaska’s Arctic region by air and land. Fly from Fairbanks and land in Coldfoot, originally a mining camp but perhaps now more well known from Ice Road Truckers. Take a walk on the arctic tundra and prepare for your bus tour south which will give you a sense of the vast scale of Alaska’s arctic regions.
Return to Fairbanks with a ground tour on the rugged Dalton Highway. Along the way, you will see and learn about northland’s most famous waterway, the Yukon River and the remarkable Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Stop along the Arctic Circle and receive an official certificate. Once the sky gets dark, make a stop in Joy, Alaska at the Arctic Circle Trading Post to scan the northern sky for the aurora borealis (northern lights). Tour departs from the East ramp of the Fairbanks airport.
Please note: At least half of the tour will be in the dark to look for the Northern Lights. Aurora viewing is dependent on weather and aurora activity.
