Downtown Anchorage in Winter.Enjoy Alaska’s best winter outdoor activities in two different resorts and travel through spectacular winter scenery on the Alaska Railroad. At Alyeska Ski Resort 40 miles south of Anchorage, you can enjoy excellent downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing or relax in the spa of your four star hotel.  After a scenic railroad ride, you will stay at another Alaskan resort, Chena Hot Springs Resort. The mineral spring area, hot tubs and a warm indoor swimming pool provide a relaxing environment. The resort also offers great Aurora Borealis viewing during clear nights.

Day 1 (Tuesday): Anchorage Arrival

Upon arrival in Anchorage you will pick up your rental car and drive from the airport to the hotel. Overnight Anchorage.

Skiing is a popular Alaskan Winter activity.

 

Day 2 (Wednesday): Anchorage to Girdwood

This morning, drive one of the most beautiful highway sections in Alaska, along Turnagain Arm to Girdwood. After your check in at the Hotel Alyeska, explore the area and try one of the many restaurants. In the evening relax in the whirlpool or take the tram to enjoy a first class meal at the Seven Glaciers Restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel Alyeska.

 

Day 3 (Thursday): Alyeska Resort

Spend your day enjoying diverse terrain and unparalleled views. Alyeska receives an annual snowfall of 782 inches! The mountain is sure to please all: un-groomed double black diamond runs for the advanced skiers and riders, big mountain carving in wide mountain bowls for the intermediate, and well groomed trails for the beginner. For those not interested in downhill skiing/snow boarding, we can also help arrange snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and other alternative activities; please inquire for details. After a day spent on the slopes, relax in the fitness center's whirlpool, sauna, or schedule a session with the massage therapists. Overnight at the Hotel Alyeska.

 

Day 4 (Friday): Alyeska Resort - Anchorage

Today we have included another full-day lift ticket pass for you to use before checking out of your hotel and returning to Anchorage in the evening. Upon arrival in Anchorage return your rental car. Overnight Anchorage.  

 

Day 5 (Saturday): Anchorage - Fairbanks

In the morning, take the hotel courtesy shuttle to the Anchorage train station. Here you will board the famous Alaska Railroad at 8:30am and travel through beautiful Alaska's winter landscape to Alaska's second largest city, Fairbanks. During your train ride, enjoy spectacular views of the Alaska Range and Mt. McKinley (weather dependent). You will arrive in Fairbanks at approx. 7:45pm. Upon arrival, transfer from the train station to the hotel via hotel courtesy shuttle. Overnight Fairbanks.

 

Day 6 (Sunday): Fairbanks - Chena Hot Springs

Transfer from your hotel in Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs Resort this morning. After a one-hour drive, you arrive at the resort. After you check in to your room, explore the resort and soak in the mineral hot springs. Chena Hot Springs is geographically well-positioned for Aurora Borealis viewing. Tonight, enjoy a 4 hour aurora viewing tour on heated snow cats. Overnight Chena HotThe Northern Lights dance in the night sky Springs Resort. 

 

Day 7 (Monday): Chena Hot Springs

Today enjoy one of the outdoor winter activities the resort has to offer (optional tours such as dog sledding and snowshoeing are at additional cost and can be booked at the resort). Overnight at Chena Hot Springs Resort.

 

Day 8 (Tuesday): Chena Hot Springs - Fairbanks - Anchorage

This morning you will return to Fairbanks in time to catch your departure flight to Anchorage. Upon arrival in Anchorage, transfer to your hotel by hotel courtesy shuttle. The rest of the day is free to explore Anchorage. Overnight Anchorage.

 

Day 9 (Wednesday): Departure

Today you will depart Alaska's winter wonderland with a new appreciation for the beauty of Alaska during the winter months. A hotel courtesy shuttle will take you to the airport.

 

8 nights accommodation; 4 days mid-size car rental with unlimited miles;  2 days ski/snowboard lift pass or activity pass at the Alyeska Resort; Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Fairbanks; roundtrip transfers from Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs Resort; 4 hour evening Aurora viewing/snow coach tour and hot springs passes at Chena Hot Springs Resort; scheduled flight Anchorage to Fairbanks; all taxes.

Any insurances for rental car, additional driver fees, gas. Meals, excursions, admission fees other than mentioned.  Please request any additional car rental days needed!
