Tour 175
Ultima Thule
Words used by Captain Cook on his Alaska voyages to describe the vast unexplored lands seen from the deck of his ship in 1778. Today on the other side of the mountains from where Captain Cook once explored, deep in the Wrangell St. Elias mountains you will find Ultima Thule Lodge. Located beyond all road access and in a remote park, Ultima Thule operates several small bush planes to reach into this outstanding and remote country.
Lodge owners are longtime Alaska residents and bring a high caliber of professional ability to this unique operation. Co-owner Paul Claus is an Everest climber and well known adventurer, Donna Claus was a member of the US Olympic ski team and her sound knowledge of the region helps form an exceptional team.
Their daughter Ellie Claus was the youngest
person to ever finish the grueling Iditarod
Trail Sled dog race raises and train sled dogs
at the lodge and offer guests the opportunity to
mush a dog team on a glacier all summer long!
Other activities at the lodge include, wildlife viewing, fly fishing, hiking, rafting, kayaking, mountain trekking plus some of greatest bush flying anywhere.
Ultima Thule Lodge offers 6 hand
crafted private cabins, plus a multi room main
