Winterlake Lodge offers seclusion and spectacular scenery, including views of the Trimble and Hayes Glacier and the entrance to Rainy Pass. Located on the National Historic Iditarod Trail, the lodge offers many opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing. The area is home to many species of Alaska birds, wildflowers, and berries that are rarely seen in other locales. The lodge is fantastic location for an Alaska wilderness vacation.
With its wellness program, cooking classes, and wine tasting, the Winterlake Lodge offers a unique Alaska vacation experience. Activities at the lodge include hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, and of course dog mushing in the winter time. The lodge offers a comfortable main room, for relaxing by the fire and viewing the lake from large picture windows. There is also a cozy dining area, large meditative yoga room, hot tub, and a lakeside wood burning sauna. Enjoy your Alaska vacation, in first-class wilderness style.

Day 1: Anchorage to Winterlake
Depart Lake Hood in Anchorage by float plane for an approximate 50-minute flight to Winter Lake. The Winterlake Lodge managers will meet you and show you the lodge facilities and to your cabin. You will be offered a refreshing drink, warm hand towels for a quick wash-up, and a little time to decompress from the outside world. A daily activity sheet and a daily menu of the lodge's award-winning meals are posted around the main lodge.
Day 2+: Winterlake Lodge
Today you are free to explore the Winterlake area. Be as physically rigorous as you like, or lay back and enjoy a lakeside glass of wine. Activities that you can choose from include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, berry picking, or dog mushing (in winter only). Guides are available to make your stay more comfortable and your activities more fun. Also, cooking classes are hosted in the spacious kitchen.
Food and Wine: Because the lodge owners have an interest in cuisine, and Alaska cuisine in particular, they have an emphasis on culinary excellence and education. Meals are served from one daily menu, but you are welcome to request special dishes or tell us if you have dislikes/allergies.
Departure Day: After breakfast you depart on the scenic flight back to Anchorage. Tour ends on arrival.
Note: you can also reach the lodge by plane from Talkeetna. Prices are on request.
Summer activities: daily activities might include a guided 1 ½ -hour narrated walk, a cooking class, a tour of the lake by canoe, berry picking, dog mushing (with a wheel sled in the summer) on the National Historic Iditarod Trail, and fly-casting instruction.
And - last but not least - the wellness offerings such as yoga, meditation, stretching and complimentary massage.
Helicopter excursions: Winter Lake Lodge will has a dedicated helicopter on site every day for optional guided helicopter excursions. Heli-hiking, wilderness fishing, river rafting, and glacier sightseeing area easily accessible from the lodge. The helicopter capacity is 3 persons per drop at the location for the activity. It may require a few trips to the site to bring all passengers and the guide. The helicopter will NOT stand by during the activity at drop off location. When activity is finished helicopter will come back for pick up.
Winter activities may include sled dog tours and instructions on driving your own team, cross country ski excursions, snowshoe expeditions, exploratory trips through Rainy Pass, wine tasting and cooking classes. Of course, they also have their signature wellness offerings such as yoga, meditation, stretching and complimentary massage.

Roundtrip flights between Lake Hood (Anchorage) and Winterlake Lodge, lodging, all meals during stay at lodge, guide service, 1 hour complimentary massage, and use of lodge equipment.
Note: the rates are based on 24-hour periods, meaning if you fly to the lodge on day 1 in the morning, you will also depart the lodge in the morning of your departure day. Typical lodge departure times from Anchorage are 7:30am or 5:00pm, but alternate departure times can be arranged.

Refund / Cancellation Policy:
Any time after our written confirmation: 10% of invoice total or $100, whichever is greater.
60 to 45 days prior to lodge stay date: 50% of invoice total.
44 to 31 days prior to lodge stay date: 60% of invoice total.
30 to 0 days prior to lodge stay date: 100% of invoice total.
