Early in the morning depart on mini coach
from Fairbanks for a ground tour north on the Dalton
Highway. Along the way, you will see the Trans Alaska
Pipeline and the mighty Yukon River. A stop will be
made at the Arctic Circle Trading Post, located in the
rural community of Joy. You will make a ceremonious
crossing of the Arctic Circle and receive an official
Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. Next, board a
plane and fly north to the Nunamiut Eskimo Village of
Anaktuvuk Pass, nestled in the heart of the
magnificent Brooks Mountain Range. Here you will visit
the local village and learn about the Nunamiut Eskimo
culture. The return flight to Fairbanks provides an
aerial view of the Alaskan wilderness.

tundra, and Eskimo culture make this a truly memorable
Arctic Journey! Your 1.5 hour flight takes into the
Brooks Range, an area of glacially carved mountains
that rise to 6400 feet. You will land within the Gates
of the Arctic National Park at Anaktuvuk Pass, nearly
100 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The Pass is a
major migration route for caribou and home to bears,
wolves, moose, Dall sheep, wolverines, and fox.
In the village, you will learn of the Nunamiut (inland
Eskimo) way of life and how they blend modern ways
with traditional life. After lunch, experience how
they travel, hunt, and use the land by exploring
subsistence hunting trails with your guide on an
8-wheel all-terrain vehicle. A visit will also be made
to the National Park ranger station.

learn the ceremonies and traditions of the 4,000 year-old native
culture as you tour the new Inupiat Heritage Center, take part in
native dances, and learn about the traditional blanket

beach as far north as you're ever likely to go!

BARROW EXPEDITION

This small group day excursion takes you from
Fairbanks to Barrow on a small aircraft. This
morning, you will depart Fairbanks and fly north
across the Arctic Circle to the ancient Inupiat
Eskimo village of Barrow. En route you will stop at
the small Arctic Circle community of Coldfoot. Here
you can purchase a packed lunch from Coldfoot Camp
Trucker's Cafe. After a 1 hour break in Coldfoot you
will continue on to Barrow, arriving about 11:30pm.
Upon arrival, a knowledgeable guide will take you on
a sightseeing tour of Barrow, where you will
discover firsthand the lifestyles of Alaska's Arctic
Coastal peoples. You will walk the shores of the
Arctic Ocean near the northernmost point on the
North American Continent. Bravely dip your toe in
the frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean. Depart Barrow
at 1:30pm; typically you will land in Coldfoot again
for a rest stop. You will arrive in Fairbanks
between 4:30pm - 5:30pm. Tour
