The Chena River runs through FairbanksFairbanks, Alaska's second largest city, combines modern amenities and technology with a frontier atmosphere. Recognized as the "gateway to the Arctic," Fairbanks has a long and colorful history dating back to the late 1800's gold rush.

Tours range from crossing the Arctic Circle, to experiencing Eskimo culture, to touring a working placer gold mine.  The University of Alaska's Museum of the North, the Musk-Ox Farm, the Ice Museum, and the historic downtown are recommended attractions.  The Trans-Alaska oil pipeline, a remarkable engineering feat bringing Arctic oil to the port of Valdez, can also be seen in town.

Depart from Fairbanks on a small plane and land across the Arctic Circle in a ceremonious fashion, where you will receive an official Arctic Circle certificate. Enjoy a walk on the treeless arctic tundra, which will give you a sense of the vast scale of Alaska's arctic regions. A 2.5-hour ground tour of the rural community of Wiseman is included. Your return flight provides another opportunity to see the Yukon River, the Brooks Range, Gates of the Arctic National Park, and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline from the air.

This small group day excursion takes you from Fairbanks to Barrow on a scenic small aircraft flight. A local guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of the village, where you will discover firsthand the lifestyles of Alaska's Arctic Coastal peoples. You will walk the shores of the Arctic Ocean near the northernmost point on the North American Continent. Duration: approx. 9 hours.

GATES OF THE ARCTIC NAT PARK & NUNAMIUT ESKIMO VILLAGE AT ANAKTUVUK PASS  Tour 68

Ancient mountains, arctic tundra, and Eskimo culture make this a truly memorable Arctic Journey! Your 1.5 hour flight takes into the Brooks Range, an area of glacially carved mountains that rise to 6400 feet. You will land within the Gates of the Arctic National Park at Anaktuvuk Pass, nearly 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The Pass is a major migration route for caribou and home to bears, wolves, moose, Dall sheep, wolverines, and fox.
In the village, you will learn of the Nunamiut (inland Eskimo) way of life and how they blend modern ways with traditional life. After lunch, experience how they travel, hunt, and use the land by exploring subsistence hunting trails with your guide on an 8-wheel all-terrain vehicle. A visit will also be made to the National Park ranger station. Fly back to Fairbanks in the evening. Lunch is included. Maximum 8 passengers.

Early in the morning depart on mini coach from Fairbanks for a ground tour north on the Dalton Highway. Along the way, you will see the Trans Alaska Pipeline and the mighty Yukon River. A stop will be made at the Arctic Circle Trading Post, located in the rural community of Joy. You will make a ceremonious crossing of the Arctic Circle and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. Next, board a plane and fly north to the Nunamiut Eskimo Village of Anaktuvuk Pass, nestled in the heart of the magnificent Brooks Mountain Range. Here you will visit the local village and learn about the Nunamiut Eskimo culture. The return flight to Fairbanks provides an aerial view of the Alaskan wilderness.
