 Tour 1513: Fishing Alaska's Scenic Highways

The Last Frontier attracts anglers for many reasons.  For those who want the serenity of the interiors streams and a chance to catch the big fish in open water, we designed the perfect adventure.  Your tour starts in Anchorage where you'll pick up your car to transport you to the fishing hotspots.  On this 14 day journey, you'll have the opportunity to land salmon, halibut, rainbow trout, and Dolly Varden while enjoying the landscape of Alaska. 14 days/13 night Program from/to Anchorage

Day 01: 
Anchorage; pick up your rental car upon arrival and the drive to your hotel for the evening.  Overnight in Anchorage.
 
Day 02: Drive Anchorage to Cooper Landing.  View the overlooks along the Cook Inlet as you travel south on the Seward Highway.  Stop at Bird Creek for an opportunity to land a salmon.  Overnight Cooper Landing.
 
Day 03:  Today you will enjoy 8 hours of fishing for Red (Sockeye) Salmon, Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden on the Kenai River.  Your guide, top-quality gear and tackle is included.  The season will dictate the type of fish availability and which part of the Kenai River you will be fishing.  Overnight Cooper Landing.
 
Day 04Continue along the Sterling Highway today towards Homer.  You may opt to try your luck on the Kenai River along the way for the in season Salmon.  Overnight Homer.
 
Day 05: Today enjoy a full-day halibut fishing charter.  The Homer area offers some of Alaska's best halibut fishing from mid-May to September.  The boat trip itself is a treat, cruising the beautiful shore line, you regularly see sea otters, whales, puffins, and other marine life.  Overnight Homer.

Day 06This morning you will travel back along the Sterling Highway to the junction and then further south to Seward.  Today explore the scenic coastal town of Seward on your own, or sign up for an optional kayak trip.  Choose to visit Exit Glacier or fish from the rocky beaches.  Overnight Seward.

Day 07Today you will travel out into the Resurrection Bay for a full-day of Salmon fishing.  Guide/Captain, fishing tackle, and complete fish cleaning are included.  The packaging, freezing, and shipping of your catch is available as well.  Overnight Seward.

Day 08This morning travel back along the Turnagain Arm past Anchorage to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.  Tonight you will overnight in Wasilla.  Optional visit to the Iditarod Museum or fish a local stream.  Overnight Wasilla/Palmer.

Day 09From Palmer, travel north toward Talkeetna, fishing in route.  Some of Alaska's finest salmon fishing can be found along the Parks Highway, including the Little Su River, Sheep Creek, and Willow Creek.  Overnight Talkeetna.

Day 10From Talkeetna, you may want to take a guided river fishing trip or be dropped off on one of the local rivers and fish on your own (not included).  Overnight Talkeetna.

Day 11Traveling north along the Parks Highway today, you will be staying at Denali National Park.  This park is home to many wild animals such as grizzly bear, moose, caribou, fox, Dall sheep, and wolves.  Tonight explore the park entrance on your own; take an optional raft trip; or flightseeing tour.  Overnight Denali Park Entrance.

Day 12This morning you will join other visitors on a 6-7 hour Tundra Wilderness Tour.  This tour travels into the park giving visitors view of Alaska's immense landscape and perhaps a chance to see one of the Parks many animals.  Overnight Denali Park Entrance.

Day 13Today, make your way back to Anchorage.  You may choose to drop a line in one of the many streams along the way.  Overnight Anchorage.

Day 14This morning return your rental vehicle and depart for home. End of tour services.
 

13 nights accommodations including tax; 2 weeks vehicle rental as specified including tax; 3 full day guided fishing trips (Cooper Landing, Day 3; Homer, Day 5; Seward, Day 7); 6-8 hr bus tour into Denali National Park with snack lunch (Day 12); travel itinerary and all taxes.
