First stop – the world-famous
Prince William Sound with
its magnificent glaciers. Then,
on to
Denali
National Park
for the opportunity of a lifetime to
see
Alaska’s wildlife and the ‘Great
One,’
Mt.
McKinley.
In
Fairbanks,
enjoy a cultural riverboat tour and
have time for an optional trip across the
Arctic Circle.
Then stop through Talkeetna, the staging area for
expeditions to
Mt.
McKinley. Return
to Anchorage to complete this itinerary, which is ideal for
the traveler who wants to see all the variety Alaska has to
offer in a short period of time.

Transfer by courtesy shuttle or taxi to your
Anchorage hotel. Depending on your arrival,
you may have time to partake in an optional
tour such as
Flight Seeing or a Trolley City Tour
(not included). Overnight in
Anchorage.
Day 2: Prince William Sound
Begin the day with round-trip bus
transportation to Whittier to meet your
afternoon glacier cruise, lunch is included.
Your afternoon will be spent enjoying a
breath-taking cruise into Prince William
Sound to view glaciers and wildlife. You
will have the opportunity to see an
abundance of glaciers both up close and
those nestled in the mountains. Overnight in
Anchorage.
Day 3: Anchorage to Denali
This morning at approx. 7:00am* depart on a
scheduled motorcoach to Denali National
Park. Enjoy the afternoon on your own to
explore the Denali park entrance area
(arrive at approx. 1pm). You may wish to
take a shuttle to the Denali Visitor Center
or enjoy an optional tour such as a
Jeep Safari or
Helicopter Tour
(not included). Overnight at the Denali park
entrance.
Day 4: Denali National Park
Today, enjoy a 6- to 8-hour bus tour
into Denali to search for wildlife. A
snack is included. This tour takes you
approx. 55 miles into Denali National
Park and provides opportunities to view
Alaska's "big five": bears, wolves,
caribou, moose, and Dall sheep. If the
weather is clear, you have the
opportunity for some great views of Mt.
McKinley. The afternoon is free for
optional activities. Overnight at the
Denali park entrance.
Day 5: Denali to Fairbanks
Spend the morning at your leisure for
additional optional excursions or a chance
to do some hiking in the surrounding areas.
At 3:45pm depart on the Alaska Railroad
north to Fairbanks. Along the way, enjoy
beautiful views of the Nenana River and many
scenic tundra lakes. Upon arrival (8:00pm),
transfer to hotel by courtesy hotel shuttle
or taxi. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 6: Fairbanks
This morning (8:45am) you will travel the
Chena and Tanana Rivers for 3.5 hours on the
only authentic sternwheeler riverboat
operating in Alaska. This narrated tour
provides background on the area's natural
history and the Athabascan Native culture.
You will see a trapper's cabin, log homes, a
bush plane in action and sled dogs. In the
afternoon, use your free time to explore the
city on your own or enjoy
optional tours such as
a tour across the Arctic Circle
(not included). Overnight in
Fairbanks.
Day 7: Fairbanks to Talkeetna
Today enjoy a scenic ride on the Alaska Railroad
to the quaint town of Talkeetna. Depart
Fairbanks at 8:15am and arrive in Talkeetna at
4:45pm. There is time for optional excursions
including
Mt. McKinley flight seeing
tours or a Jet Boat Safari
(not included). Overnight in Talkeetna.
Day 8: Talkeetna to Anchorage
This morning you will have free time to relax or
do an optional tour. This afternoon, you will
return to Anchorage via the Alaska Railroad.
Depart Talkeetna at 4:45pm and arrive in
Anchorage at 8:15pm. Upon arrival in Anchorage
transfer to your hotel by courtesy shuttle or
taxi. Overnight in Anchorage.
Day 9: Depart Anchorage
Transfer via hotel shuttle or taxi to airport to
meet departure flight or start an additional
program.
