Ancient mountains, arctic tundra, and local culture make this small group tour a truly memorable journey! This Arctic tour to Anaktuvuk Pass Village begins with a 1.5-hour flight from Fairbanks taking you into the Brooks Range, an area of glacially carved mountains that rises to 6,400 feet. You will land within the Gates of the Arctic National Park at Anaktuvuk Pass, nearly 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The Pass is a major migration route for caribou and home to bears, wolves, moose, Dall sheep, wolverines, and fox. Upon landing, meet your local host who will spend the day sharing details about village life both past and present. In Anaktuvuk Village, you will learn of the Nunamiut (inland Eskimo) Alaskan way of life and how Alaska Native people blend modern ways with ancient traditions. Continue your Arctic tour on foot by walking through the community. Fly back to Fairbanks in the afternoon.
Please note with all culturally based tours, the sightseeing portion of the tour may be shortened or modified due to community events or emergencies.
